Hi, I’m Ellen.

I have been a nurse for thirty years, and have dedicated thirteen of those years to the terminally ill and dying. People often ask how I do this hospice work. While I recognize its challenges, I believe hospice is fundamentally a celebration of life and a way to honor the meaningful contributions each patient has made to the world. I’ve experienced a profound joy and reward in providing compassionate comfort care during someone’s final days. This work has become my calling and I am eager to share the insights and wisdom of this work to new hospice nurses.

I would describe myself as a creative and quiet introvert but I also love being with people, getting to know them, and building relationships. Music is an important part of my life. I play both the piano and the ukulele, which I learned while growing up in Hawaii. Cooking is another joy of mine, and I love experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. To quench my thirst for knowledge, I listen to books on Audible while on the road during work, and have learned so much. One of my favorite things to do is nature photography where I can destress and forget about everything, trying to capture the beauty I see outdoors. The pictures on my website are mostly mine but there are a couple of breathtaking snapshots from my husband.

Dwight and I live in the peaceful mountains of southern Oregon, where we enjoy building our life together on five acres of land. We have three talented and creative adult daughters and two grandchildren who bring smiles and laughter into our lives.
