New to Hospice Nursing and Looking for Support?

I’m a hospice nurse and health writer.

I help nurses feel supported and write clear, compassionate content for health care.

So, you’ve just been hired as a hospice nurse.

Maybe this is the work you’ve always felt drawn to. But now that you’re here, the questions start flooding in:

Can I really do this?

Will I know what to say?

How do I handle the hard days?

You’re not alone. I’ve been right where you are — and so have many others.

If you’re looking for steady encouragement and practical guidance as you begin your hospice journey, you’re in the right place.

That’s why I wrote Sunset Angels…

As a seasoned hospice nurse, I had the privilege of orienting many new nurses as they joined our team. Some stayed, but many moved on.

I found myself asking, Why does this keep happening?

Out of that frustration, I thought back to my own early days in hospice and began writing what I wish someone had told me when I was just starting out.

This book is the result.

The goal of this book…

For hospice administrators, you know how hard it is for new hospice nurses to adjust—and how costly turnover can be. That’s why I wrote Sunset Angels: A Companion Guide for New Hospice Nurses, to help you retain staff by easing fears, boosting confidence, and ensuring new nurses feel supported from the start. This resource helps you strengthen the ranks of hospice nurses while supporting their long-term success.

Because truthfully, that first year is often the hardest.

It’s when you, my fellow nurse, learn the most — not just about the work, but about yourself. It’s the time when you begin to build the foundation and confidence needed for this sacred work.

Sunset Angels is my contribution to your success as a hospice nurse and case manager. My hope is that it offers both insight and inspiration — and reminds you that you are not alone in this. You are a gift to patients and families. You are a sunset angel.
